Software and Computers

The software needed to use the LatheEngraver is entirely free.

The main control software and Gcode sender is OctoPrint. OctoPrint is OpenSource software developed by Gina Häußge for controlling 3D printers. Its rich plugin ecosystem has enabled us to develop tools to make the LatheEngraver as easy to use as possible.

OctoPrint is Python-based and will run on nearly any hardware/operating system. Any old laptop will do, and even single-board computers (Raspberry Pis) will work.

For Windows, you can download an installer for OctoPrint and all necessary LatheEngraver plugins here. (Windows will complain that it is untrusted, as long as you use the link provided here it is safe to install)

For Linux systems, you can use the installation script found here (simply follow the instructions)

For Mac systems....there is no simple script....yet.
